Covid-19 Promise – Free Cancellation

We want your booking to be stress free. If NZ Lockdown L3 or L4 or Australian border closures prevent you from travelling, you may cancel or postpone your booking free of charge.

If you have a booking with us, and the NZ or AU governments brings in NZ Lockdown Alert Level 3 or 4 or Australian border closures which prevent you from travelling (or the bubble is suspended), we won’t charge you any cancellation or amendment fees. Furthermore, if you are prevented from returning your car due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, we’ll offer you a very generous discount on your extended hire period. Remember, we don’t charge anything at the time of booking and you’ll only pay for your hire when you collect the car.

Please note that if you simply decide to change your booking and Covid-19 travel restrictions are not the reason, then our usual cancellation and amendment terms apply.  You can find out more about these on our FAQ page.


Overseas Visitors - MIQ

Please advise us if you have recently been in a managed isolation and quarantine facility. We may be able to deliver the car to you at your Auckland Airport or Christchurch Airport accommodation, or make other arrangements for a contactless pick-up, with all paperwork completed in advance (subject to availability and requested location).

We continue to operate as normal with increased vigilance around physical distancing, vehicle and office sanitisation, and contact tracing.  Contactless pick ups are available if required.

When using our airport shuttle service and in our Omega Rental Cars offices, please wear a face mask at all times.  This is a mandatory requirement to protect all our customers and our staff.  Thank you for your co-operation.


How we are Cleaning our Cars...

In response to COVID-19 we have purchased additional supplies of disinfectant and will ensure that every vehicle that leaves our yard has been thoroughly disinfected, paying particular attention to steering wheels, gear knob, door handles and keys (which will be provided to you in a sealed envelope).


Preparations at our Branches...

All our teams around the country have increased their vigilance and, amongst other measures, will be regularly wiping down counters, keyboards, door handles and regularly used items.  If you require a contactless pick up this can be arranged, simply phone or email us in advance to make arrangements. We will advise the process for vehicle collection prior to pick up, but rest assured our priority is on ensuring everyone's safety by adherence to physical distancing requirements.
